After their very successful visits to The Hub, students from York Saint John's University and the University of York, ran an arts session with young people at 4Corners to celebrate 25 years of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The work created by the young people will be displayed in York as part of the on going celebrations.
Art Sessions at The Hub
Our children and young people had a great art session at The Hub today on the 25th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child led by students from York Saint John and the University of York. The children and young people had a fantastic time and produced some outstanding paintings for display! We have found out about some real artists among our young people today. We are looking forward to the students coming back to complete the project and to them working with our young people at 4Corners.

Human Rights Networking Event
On Saturday 8th November, we had a fantastic afternoon at a networking event at the University of York, organised by Derwent College Global Community.
It was a great opportunity to meet other organisations in the city who are are also working on human rights issues and to meet students from a whole range of disciplines who are keen to volunteer in many different capacities. It was also brilliant to hear so many good ideas for building links and working together. We are really looking forward to seeing what happens next!
Thank you to those who arranged the event.
Fundraising run for hardship fund
On Sunday 26th October, two of our volunteers, Mary and Esme, took part in the Bradford City Runs 2014 running 5k and a half marathon repsectively. So far they have raised over £723 for our hardship fund. At this time of year there is always extra demand on this fund as we use it to buy winter clothes, coats and shoes in addition to food and other basic necessities for destitute individuals and families.
Mary and Esme, along with everyone else at RAY, would like to pass on a massive thank you to all those who have donated so far. If you haven't sponsored them yet, there is still time to do so https://www.justgiving.com/Mary-McCormack1/.
If any of RAY's volunteers or supporters are interested in organising or taking part in a fundraising event then please do get in touch.

Charity Football Event
RAY would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff and students from the University of York who turned out on a wet Saturday afternoon to take part in an energetic football tournament to raise money for our hardship fund. We would like to send a special thanks to those at the Humanities Research Centre who organised the event. The donation will allow RAY to provide destitute service users with essential items such as food, coats and shoes.
Fantastic football fundraisiers!
